Friday, December 14, 2007 PERSONAL MYSPACE MESSAGE FROM JOEY TEMPEST... Hello there, Joey here! from a sunny cold December London. Thanks for visiting our new Myspace site. Hope you can hang out here often. Just got of the phone with John (Norum). We don't speak that often but when we manage to get a hold of each other we can stay on the phone for hours. Just like we used to do back when we started Force together. John is in the middle of recording his solo album. Rehearsals are going well and he will start the actual recording any day now. He says this album will have a straight forward feel with not so many overdubs. I'm looking forward to hearing it. We also had a chat about the New Years gig in Romania which could be a lot of fun. We also talked about the semi-acoustic show on 26th of Jan. at Nalen. We hope we can throw in a few surprises. Perhaps play a "cover". It's amazing to think that this show can be viewed from anywhere in the world over the internet. It will be a fun evening for sure. We've started work songs for the new Europe CD. The rest of the guys have been sending me ideas to work on here in London. There are some really cool songs coming out. We'll go into the studio after touring the summer next year. Le 13/12/07 Une info avec un petit peu (beaucoup) de retard, mais intéressante [ Merci Nico ;-) ]. Lors du Arrow Rock Festival du 30 juin dernier, EUROPE a dédicacé aux côté de nombreux autres artistes, une guitare Gibson. En effet, GIBSON récoltait les signatures de Guitar Heroes destinées à des oeuvres caritatives. Gibson, lors du Arrow Festival qui s'est deroulé aux Pays Bas en juin dernier, a eu l'immense privilège de recolter les signatures des plus grands groupes de Rock, afin que les bénéfices de chacune de ces guitares dedicacées pour l'occasion, soient distribués a des associations caritatives dediées aux enfants, à travers les programmes de la Fondation Gibson, ainsi qu'a Music Rising, association créée par The Edge, Bob Ezrin et Henry Juszkiewicz en 2005. L'association Music Rising, à la suite du passage de l'ouragan Katrina, désastre humain, écologique et culturel, aide les musiciens de la Nouvelle Orléans à se procurer de nouveaux instruments afin que cette region, vivier culturel musical unique au monde puisse perdurer ! 2 500 musiciens professionnels sont à ce jour en possession de leurs instruments ! Les programmes d'entraide de l'association se préocupent aujourd'hui des écoles et de lieux de culte, lien social et vivant de la Nouvelle Orléans ! Elle a recu le prix lors du Billboard 2006 pour la Cause Humanitaire. En juin dernier, la vente aux enchères organisée à New York d'objets ayant appartenu à des artistes de la scène musicale, a rapporté à l'association la somme de 2 500 000 US Dollars. The Edge s'étant particulièrement investi lors de la récuperation d'objet auprès de ses pairs ainsi que par une guitare qui lui tenait particulierement à coeur, une Les Paul Gibson de 1975, guitare qui grace à son don, a vu les enchères s'envoler. Le 03/12/07 EUROPE fera un concert semi-acoustique, le 26 janvier 2008, au Nalen de Stockholm. Ils y joueront des titres de Secret Society et d'autres hits tirés des albums précédent. Le concert sera diffusé en direct sur le net via le site officiel du groupe. Pour les tickets et toute autre demande, le site de Nalen est à votre disposition. (Concert à 21H00 - Prix 515 SEK) Ce sera sans doute un concert à ne pas oublié d'enregistrer ;-)

OCTOBRE

Le 17/10/07 La femme de Joey Tempest, Lisa, a donné naissance à leur premier enfant le vendredi 12 octobre 2007 à Londres (UK). Ce petit garçon s'appelle James Joakim et tout va bien pour lui et la maman. Félicitations aux heureux parents ;-) Hanna Ilestam son contact avec la presse, a déclaré qu'il ne donnerait aucune interview, afin de respecter sa vie privée. Le 03/09/07 Un petit mot de Kee Marcello laissé sur son MySpace, à propos de la tournée qu'il organise en Suède. CLINIC TOUR 2007 HEJBA FRIENDS! As I'm writing this I'm receiving and answering a shitload of emails/phone calls regarding the Swedish leg of the clinic tour. Since there really are'nt any agencies that arrange clinics in Sweden, I'm taking care of all the logistics myself. Travels, tranports, getins, getouts, promotor reschedulings, time schedules, promotion campaigns, press kits, whatnots. It's a little like putting a retard in charge of a super power nation. (If it ain't working for the US, why should it work for me?!) I'm having trouble enough getting in and out of a cab for cryin' out loud! I swear that I'll never back talk and agent again, they really deserve the money they charge for putting up with this crap. Antway, you'll find the first 15 gigs listed on myspace, check it out. Le 02/09/07 D'après une interview sur Dalarnas Tidningar Joey a déclaré que EUROPE continuerait à tourner en Suède, en Europe et dans le reste du monde pendant la fin de l'année et au printemps de l'année prochaine. Il sont également composé beaucoup de chansons mais ne les ont pas encore enregistrées . Étant donné qu'ils aiment le son de l'album "Secret Society", ils réenregistreront avec la même équipe pour le futur album.

Le 02/09/07 Un petit mot laissé par Joey sur le forum officiel suite au concert de Dalhalla du 31/08/07 en Suède. On y apprend que le show a été enregistré et qu'il y a des chances que l'on puisse trouver certains titres en téléchargement sur le site officiel du groupe prochainement (en espérant que ce ne soit pas encore payant !) Donc contrairement à ce qu'aurait raconté Ian Haugland à un fan, aucun enregistrement pour un DVD n'a été effectué. Le 02/09/07 Un petit compte rendu du forum officiel du concert du 31/08/07, ainsi que la setlist ! FIRST LIVE REPORT FROM DALHALLA! 'Dalhalla', is an exceptional venue for a rock concert... this oval-shaped limestone quarry extends 60 meters deep into the earth; like an enormous singing throat. Layered walls of rugged stone tower around us on all sides, and provide a dramatic backdrop to a stage which has been built over a naturally-occurring lake of emerald water. It is truly a wonder of man and nature. A crowd is snaking its way down the spiraling road to the amphitheatre, dwarfed beneath the sheer size of the exposed earth. There is already an electricity hanging in the air as fans and friends find their seats. One can't help but feel something BIG is about to happen... that somehow, we are soon to experience a performance that can be ultimately described as the "essence" of this rockband. After all, we find ourselves in the remote forests of Sweden - their homeland. Their roots. Their history. The swelling crowd chatter excitedly. Old friends hug and usher one another to their seats. The audience is peppered with Europe shirts, flags and banners.... Stay tuned for updates during and after the show...! Stereolith just hit the stage... - the atmosphere here is OUT OF CONTROL!! More updates as EUROPE launch into their set from this majestic place!!! ;) Stereolith have left the stage and the stage is now being set for the headliners! Its a cool 7 degrees here deep in the quarry, - punters are sipping at whiskey and schnapps from plastic cups and are pulling blankets around their shoulders... We're waiting for the fireworks to begin.... the countdown is on! ;) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWW! The band is at its pinnacle in terms of performance!!!!!! The show is like never seen before! 'Time Has Come' was played, and FLAMES was performed just as three enormous bonfires lit up high on one of the rocky outcrops! This gig is INSAAAANE! More later ;) FINAL REVIEW - AFTER SHOW Here, deep in the forests of Sweden, local legend suggests that 360 million years ago, a star fell to earth in the region of Dalarna, creating Lake Siljan and its dramatic surrounds. Tonight, many millennia later; five more stars descended upon the region, setting the sky alight with blazing colour and thunderous noise. But this was no celestial cataclysm... this was a man-made force. A force named "EUROPE". As the light faded fast over this colossal venue an enormous thrum of fans had assembled around the impressive stage. Cheering and chanting could be heard from every row of the stadium. The support act Stereolith were received well, but there was no doubt who all were here to see! When Stereolith left the stage, suggesting that the headliners were soon to come, the air was simply electric! Then, the opening chords of “Love is Not the Enemy” saw the stadium erupt with applause! Everyone took to their feet and a sea of flashbulbs sparkled across the crowd as EUROPE took to the stage with an energy seldom seen! The roar from the crowd was eclipsed only by the crashing drums, soaring guitars and Joey's platinum vocals! The mercury sat at a steady 4 or 5 degrees throughout the entire night – people sang in frosty plumes as the guys launched attack after attack! After a short while our bodies were heated enough to counter the cold weather as Joey and the band kept all enthralled as the shook up the setlist! A few old hits were resurrected much to the delight of the punters! Joey walked across a thin bridge suspended over the natural lake and strolled through the crowds, encouraging them to participate. Needlesstosay, they obliged willingly! Forever Travelling Guitar Solo Girl from Lebanon Start From the Dark Yesterdays News Rock the Night ENCORES: Gotta Have Faith (with a ‘blues’ twist in the beginning!) Cherokee And of course… the show-closer… …the audience slicked with sweat, appeared as if they could give no more… but all understood what was to come. As with each and every concert, just one song has the capability to send adrenaline coursing through the body and evoke a mania amongst the revelers like none other: the anthemic “Final Countdown”! As the legendary intro splintered across the skies over Dalhalla, the ground rumbled beneath our feet and the fans sent up a roar like a bloody battle-cry! Joey was in his element, and the stage lightshow flared brilliantly – silhouetting fans with vibrant colours! Norum’s famous solo blistered aggressively… and then to crashing drums and punching fists, a sea of flags rose into the air! The entire stadium rippled with colour and movement! Fans from the four corners of the earth: Asia, the Americas, Oceania and Europe flew their national flag with raging excitement and national pride! It was as though a whole world united, and came to gather in this hallowed place this night! The excitement and energy was palpable as the song came to a thunderous close to a roaring adoring audience! As the band thanked the crowd I saw tears shimmering in the corners of eyes – fans both male and female overwhelmed and swept away with this colossal performance. This was without a shadow of a doubt, the best EUROPE performance I have witnessed in their career. The energy was high and the audience roared their appreciation. Despite the frost biting at the fingers, they delivered a monumental performance is against this sweeping, colossal backdrop. If tonight’s performance is anything to go by, tomorrow night (the final show on this world tour) promises to be a killer! Anyone with ideas of still attending – if you can get your hands on a ticket and hot-foot it into the wilds of the Swedish forest, DO IT! It will be an event that will go down in the history of this band! ONE MORE WORD before this man heads for the bar…

Le 02/09/07 Les titres "Danger On The Track", "Cherokee" et "Time Has Come" sont sur la bande originale du film HOT ROD (sorti le 22/08/07). Dans la bande annonce il y a même "Rock The Night" et " The Final Countdown". La bande annonce.

AOUT

Le 12/08/07 Des photos du 31 août prochain lors du concert de Dalhalla (Suède) seront publiées en direct sur le forum officiel du groupe directement sur ce lien. Il y aura également des photos précédent le concert et après le show, et il semblerait que quelques surprises nous attendent.

JUILLET

Le 31/07/07 C'est maintenant officiellement confirmé, le prochain album de John Norum sortira le 04 février 2008.

Le 24/07/07 Quelques news sur le prochain album solo de J. Norum. Il devrait être très influencé blues dans la lignée de l'album "Another Destination " avec de longues parties instrumentales. John déclare également que le titre "Shimmering Highs" de cet ancien album devait à l'origine être plus long de 2 mn. Cependant la sortie de son nouvel album est repoussée à une date ultérieure (début 2008 vraisemblablement) parce que John veut se consacrer à son fils. Il nous faudra donc encore patienter un petit peu ;-)

JUIN

Le 24/06/07 Après l'été, le groupe commencera à enregistrer les démos du prochain album qui ne devrait pas sortir, au mieux, avant l'automne 2008 et au pire au printemps 2009 !

Le 24/06/07 D'après les propos recueillis par un fan au bar des coulisses du Sweden Rock Festival 2007 auprès de Ian Haugland, il semblerait que les prochains concerts d' EUROPE du 31/08 et 01/09/07 (Dalhalla - Rattvik, Sweden) soient enregistrés pour sortir sous forme d'un DVD. Et tout cela dans un super cadre. A priori EUROPE aurait même déjà prévu de faire l'édition 2008 du Sweden Rock Festival !

Le 24/06/07 Bien que les rumeurs disaient que le futur opus de John sortirait en novembre, d'après le site Mascot Records le nouvel album devrait sortir le 28 septembre 2007. Cependant il n' aucun titre pour le moment ! A noter la probable participation de Mic Michaeli et de Leif Sundin.

Le 24/06/07 EUROPE jouera sur la chaîne suédoise TV4 au Sommarkrysset le 25 août 2007.

Le 24/06/07 Kee Marcello a composé un nouveau titre "The Harder They Come" avec M. Wikström pour l'équipe de hockey sur glace de Göteborg (Suède) nommée THE FRÖLUNDA INDIANS. Vous pouvez l'écouter sur MySpace.

Le 03/05/07 Un petit peu de mouvement sur le site officiel: Pour le mois de mai, il y a un concourt par tirage au sort d'organisé sur le site de EUROPE. Pour cela il faut commander des MP3 payants via leur site ou bien acheter du merchandising. Six personnes seront tirées au sort et gagneront un des lots: Lot 1: Un CD 'Secret Society' dédicacé et un poster de la tournée "Secret Society". Lot 2: Un CD single "Always The Pretenders" et un poster de la tournée "Secret Society". Lot 3: Une carte promo dédicacée et un poster de la tournée "Secret Society". Les gagnants seront appelés personnellement pour être félicités par un des membres du groupe.

Le 01/04/07 Le 31 mars à 14H00, Joey Tempest & John Norum ont été invités au meeting de la Musique Gibson de Francfort, où ils ont joués 2 titres "Forever Traveling" et "The Final Countdown" en acoustique.

Le 24/03/07 AOR Heaven réédite l'album de Torben Schmidt (chanteur du groupe SHAGARACK) intitulé "A Bit On The Side" de 1991, sorti initialement chez Epic Records. On y retrouve Kee Marcello sur certains titres à la guitare. Cette nouvelle édition sera tirée à 1 000 exemplaires avec le clip " Love For Sale" en bonus.

Le 11/03/07 Si vous voulez acheter des photos prises par un professionnel lors du concert à l'Elysée Montmartre le 16 février dernier, vous pouvez contacter bighouse@club-internent.fr. Il en a 35 et les vend 1 € 70 l'unité.

Le 11/03/07 Il tourne actuellement sur les ondes, un titre dance nommé Mixata, avec le refrain et le synthé de TFC ! Rien d'extraordinaire cependant.

FEVRIER

Le 07/02/07 EUROPE jouera aux "Upop @ Abbey Road Sessions", dans le studio des BEATLES, le 14 février 2007 à Londres. A priori, cela sera retransmis par "Worldspace@satellite Radio". Il semblerait également que les titres seront disponibles sur le site officiel du groupe.

Le 07/02/07 EUROPE jouera au festival "Classic Rock" à Sandnes le 18 mai 2007. Pour rappel, une rumeur circule comme quoi EUROPE aurait touché 150 000 € pour leur prestation live et télévisée à Bucarest le 31/12/06 ! A savoir si c'est vrai, c'est une autre paire de manche. Toucheront-ils aussi un petit capital intéressant pour ce festival ?

JANVIER

Le 15/01/07 Quelques infos sur le concert en Albanie: Albania - the virgin show 2007 Hello all! We arrived Tirana, Albania yesterday and having agreed to attend a ”VIP party” at a night club in town we went there despite being totally exhausted from a wake-up-too-early-and-fly-all-over-europe-and-transfer-to-another-flight-all-the-time-trip. We soon realized it was a combined meet-fans-who-want-to-take-alot-of-pictures/TV-radio-newspaper-press-conference/meet-politicians-of-Albania/drink-as-much-as-you-want-on-the-house-party. Fine with us, no problem, we’re easy. We had a chat with the Minister of Internal Affairs, ”the strongest minister in Albania and big fan of the band” (according to the info our Tour Manager had received). He turned out to be a really nice dude… despite being a politician;) We were also told Europe is the first international act ever to play in Albania… We’re honoured! But right now: Sitting in the dressing room in Tirana, Albania. The first show´s just finished and, though not knowing much of Albania or our Albanian fans, it was far beyond our expectations. OK, we experienced a few (read: a lot of) technical problems before and some during the show… but the crowd sure carried us all the way. Thanx all! We had a great time. We all hope we can play here again soon. /Mic

Le 02/01/07 Voici une petite info qui ne manque pas de sel quand on sait la polémique qu’a déclenché la dernière pochette de EUROPE chez les fans… Dans le palmarès 2006 publié par la rédaction du magazine Guitar Part (n°154), la pochette de Secret Société se classe 4ème parmi les meilleures pochettes de l’année, derrière: 1/ Thom Yorke, The Eraser 2/ Deftones, Saturday Night Wrist 3/ Mars Volta, Amputechture et devant : 5/ Muse, Black Holes And Revelations Pour info, les pochettes de Muse et Mars Volta sont aussi signées par Storm Thorgerson.
